PAST Events

What do we do?

All the events we host around Berlin have the same goal in mind: connecting makers with each other and their local community, and strengthening their creative foundations.

We want to help makers in Berlin have the best possible chance to succeed, so whether it’s Pop-Up shops, small workshops or a full-weekend conference, we do our best to show the Berlin maker community that we believe in their potential.

Tough Love Workshop Series

September & October 2019

With our series “Tough Love” we offered realistic, no-nonsense business workshops tailored to the creative community.

Following the results from Berlin Kreativ Kollektiv’s 2017/2018 “Makers Matter” research project, we’ve created these workshops in cooperation with our partner Coopolis. The workshops offered bilingual, honest and reliable education from specialised professionals, and were especially tailored to the Maker community.

The range of topics included: Tax basics, VAT requirements and options, tipps & trick on taxes, retirement options and health insurance.

Summer Pop-up 2019

August & September 2019

In August & September 2019 we held the Summer Pop-up at the beautiful Lit Lab studio in Berlin-Mitte’s Hackesche Höfe.

Customers were welcomed by a well curated selection of products by 25 Berlin-based designers ranging from fashion, accessories, ceramics and illustration to stationary, home decor, jewelry and plants.

In addition, we hosted four creative workshops in our pop-up shop where people where able to learn the basics of textile design, dying with plants, concrete designing and building plant terrariums.

Salon Talks

2019

“Salon Talks” are a series of guided discussions where we focus on topics that affect independent makers in Berlin. The talks are moderated by BKK President Emma Wood and usually include 3 key guests, who are based in Berlin and have different experiences and outlooks on the chosen theme.

At the end of each Salon Talk the conversation is opened up to the audience, and there’s always time for a drink at the end!

Salon Talk “How to Be Good at Everything” (September 2019)

In September 2019 we hosted the Salon Talk “Hobby to Business: Crafting Your Career”. Our panel included special guests were former head of Etsy Germany and owner of Müggelig and Berliner Landjungs Arne Erichsen, potter and founder of the Moss Keramik studio Mia Moss and business coach and owner of vintage label LeKosmosBerlin Iris Pohlgeers.  The event was hosted at the store of BKK member Moss Keramik.

Salon Talk “Hobby to Business: Crafting Your Career” (March 2019)

The focus of our Salon Talk in March 2019 was “Hobby to Business: Crafting Your Career”. Special guest panellists were Australian artist & comic Chaz Hutton, American journalist Grace Dobush and business coach (and BKK member) Hanna Lisa Haferkamp.  The event was hosted at the store of BKK member Lit Lab Berlin.

Kreativ Konferenz 2018

May 2018

In May 2018 we hosted the second Berlin Kreativ Konferenz at Colonia Nova in Neukölln.

With two full days of talks, workshops, and private one-on-one coaching sessions, we wanted to provide the ultimate business development experience for Berlin makers. The Konferenz was tailored not only to the professional needs of our creative community, but also to their budget, making it the only affordable creative business conference of its kind in Berlin.

Design Jungle Pop-Up Shop

September 2017

The Design Jungle in 2017 was our biggest Pop-Up Shop yet, held directly opposite the popular Mauerpark.

We showcased over 30 Berlin-based designers over 2 weeks and also hosted a series of workshops and evening talks. These special events meant we could connect the Berlin community with their local makers on a more intimate level, and share the skills and experiences behind our brands.

Kreativ Konferenz 2017

February 2017

Inspired by our members and with the support of generous sponsors and outstanding speakers who believed in our vision, we hosted the first Berlin Kreativ Konferenz in early 2017.

Held over one weekend, we set ourselves the goal of bringing a wealth of valuable resources directly to our creative community. The atmosphere and response were so positive that we decided to make the Kreativ Konferenz a regular occurrence, and it’s now one of our cornerstone events.

Sommer Pop-Up Shop

August 2016

The Sommer Pop-Up shop held in August 2016 played a key role in the official 2017 founding of the Berlin Kreativ Kollektiv (e.V.).

Bringing together over 30 independent designers from across Berlin and working together to curate and host a two-week Pop-Up shop in the heart of Mitte helped to unify our community, and demonstrated the phenomenal power and potential to support each other and raise awareness of local brands.
